LOCAL SALVATION ARMY ASSISTING WITH SERVICE TO VETERANS
The Crossville-Cumberland County, Tn. Service Unit of The Salvation Army is now working to expand its services to the community. Along with their primary mission of providing clothing and other items to children who have just been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect; assisting foster parents; providing summer camp for kids; and responding to local emergencies and disasters, the Service Unit has now joined forces with the Cumberland County Veterans Council by providing emergency aid to the Armed Forces Veterans in Cumberland County.
There are approximately 7,000 Cumberland County Veterans, and some have found themselves in need of food, medical attention, transportation to doctors and hospitals, and homeless. The Salvation Army feels it to be an important part of their mission to assist veterans in need.
